#TrappistTuesday
Trappist beer: delicious, and specific.
Beers that are authorized to use the “Authentic Trappist Product” logo come from one of 11 breweries, all located in Cistercian monasteries: Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, Chimay, & Westvleteren (in Belgium); Zundert & La Trappe (Netherlands); Stift Engelszell (Austria); Spencer (USA); Tre Fontane (Italy); and Tynt Meadow (England).
Each Trappist beer meets three criteria:
- Brewed at a facility within the monastery walls.
- Brewery is owned by the monastery.
- Profits from the brewery go to charity.
Trappist beers cover a range of styles, but they all are flavor-packed, contemplative beers made with humble dedication. Merchant du Vin is proud to be the US importer for Orval, Rochefort, Westmalle, and Zundert.
May we suggest that you enjoy a reflective and satisfying moment with a Trappist beer any Tuesday? You’ll taste the quiet dedication to quality and calm attention to detail in your glass – and each bottle adds to the brewery’s charitable contribution. Ask your local retailer to bring in another Trappist beer once you try all the ones they stock!
